New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday, October 23, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed this development on Tuesday, as reported by ANI. According to Misri, “I can confirm that Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet for a bilateral discussion during the BRICS Summit tomorrow.”
This marks the first meeting between the two leaders since the border standoff between India and China in Eastern Ladakh. Just a day earlier, both nations reached a consensus on patrolling protocols along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which is seen as a major breakthrough in resolving the four-year-long military standoff.
