Desk: Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the leader of the banned Khalistani terrorist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has made a sensational claim. In a recent interview with Canada’s government news agency, CBC News, Pannu stated that he has been in contact with the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for the past 2-3 years and has been providing intelligence on Indian agents to Justin Trudeau’s office. Pannu praised the work of Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau in his interview, reigniting the debate over Trudeau’s perceived sympathies toward Khalistani separatists.
During the interview with CBC News, Pannu said, “We have been in contact with the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office for the past 2-3 years. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s statements reflect his unwavering commitment to justice, law enforcement, and national security in Canada. Sikhs for Justice has been providing information on India’s espionage network to the PMO over the past few years.”
Pannu claimed that his organization has been informing the Canadian PMO about how former and current Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Verma and other officials were involved in setting up espionage networks. He further alleged that these agents provided logistical and intelligence support to facilitate the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
India Recalled High Commissioner and Diplomats
It is worth noting that on October 14, India recalled its High Commissioner Sanjay Verma and other diplomats from Canada. The reason behind this was that Canadian authorities had named Verma and some other Indian diplomats as suspects in the investigation into Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder. In retaliation, India expelled six Canadian diplomats.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) also accused Indian agents of being involved in violent incidents and killings in Canada, particularly targeting the South Asian community and pro-Khalistan elements. However, neither the Canadian police nor Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has provided concrete evidence to substantiate these claims.
Pannu’s Anti-India Remarks
In his interview, Pannu also criticized the Indo-Canadian community, questioning their loyalty to the Canadian constitution. He accused them of being more loyal to India, saying, “Are Indo-Canadians, whose families are still in India, loyal to the Canadian constitution, or do they still want to show their commitment to the Indian constitution?”
This revelation has once again put a spotlight on the growing tensions between India and Canada amid the ongoing diplomatic row.
