London: The UK government is going to take big steps to protect the environment from pollution soon. The government has announced that after 2030, diesel and petrol cars will not be sold in Britain. With this, the government has claimed that this decision will also create about two and a half lakh jobs in the UK.
The UK government’s plan to ban petrol and diesel cars was first to be implemented in 2040, but has now been made under the 10-point plan of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. This plan is about climate change. At present, less than one per cent of the cars on UK roads are fully electric, so a huge investment is required to meet the necessary infrastructure of Prime Minister Johnson’s plan.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson claims that his plan for the Green Industrial Revolution will also create 2.5 lakh jobs. The government has said that it is going to spend £ 12 billion on this entire scheme. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “Our Green Industrial Revolution will be powered by wind turbines in Scotland and the North East, inspired by electric vehicles built in the Midlands and developed by the latest technology developed in Wales.” Because of this we can wish for a more prosperous and greener future. “Prime Minister Boris Johnson added,” Our 10-point plan will generate thousands of green jobs. With this, the country will be helped to create zero emissions by the year 2050.
Edmund King, president of the Automobile Association, told Sky News only about 6% of local authorities have installed on-street charging facilities in residential areas.
Without a commitment to developing the right infrastructure, the plan was “optimistic”, he said.
“Everyone wants to move to electric vehicles but you can’t just pick a date out of the air. We need better infrastructure particularly for the third of people who can’t charge at home.
“We also need a better supply of cars and they need to be affordable.”
