Holi is a festival of colour, joy, happiness, enthusiasm and love. Holi is one of the important festivals celebrated in month of Phalguna on Purnima (full moon day). According to mythology there lived a King Hiranyakashyap who was cruel and against the worship of Lord Vishnu. He had son named Prahalad who was devotee of lord Vishnu and this annoyed Hiranyakashyap and he tried to kill his son Prahalad but Lord Vishnu always saved him from his father brutality. Hiranyashyap had sister named Holika who has boon that she can enter in fire anytime she wants and fire will not harm him, so she entered in blazing fire with Prahalad in her lap to burn him in fire, but Prahalad continue chanted name of Lord Vishnu and he had not got any harm. On the other hand Holika misused her boon and it leads to her death and she turned into ashes in that dazzling fire. Next day people played with colours on victory of Prahalad and from that time festival of Holi started with burning of Holi followed by playing with colours and dancing, singing.
Holi is not just a festival of colour but it teaches us management as well as life lessons that if one understands and adopt, he can make his life full of happiness and joyful. First lesson that we can learn from the Holika is that if we have any power or authority we must use it for welfare of society and not against society or to harm any individual, as Holika misused her boon of entering into fire against Bhakt Prahalad. So, power comes with great responsibility and its our duty not to misuse that power and use it for welfare and development of society. Second lesson we can learn from Hiranyakashyap that never underestimate any person. Though he was powerful king but due to his evilness and cruelty at the end he was killed by Lord Narshima. Lesson we can learn from him is that if we are in power or top position, we should not take it as granted to exploit other. Bhakt Prahalad teaches an important lesson to have faith and belief. His faith on Lord Vishnu saves him from his father cruelty. Like wise we should have faith in ourself and always believe yourself to do any task successfully.
Holi is festival of love where Dushman bhi gale mil jate hai!, means if we have any differences with someone let try to narrow down it and begin new start by forgetting past clashes. Holi teaches us to live with peace and harmony with each other and forget the bitter things and go for fresh start with sweetness of Guzhia.
Wish you all a happy, joyful and sweet holi with lot of love and happiness!
