New Delhi: India is now helping the neighboring countries by sending vaccines to fight Corona. It is considered to be India’s vaccine diplomacy. The first consignment of the vaccine sent from India to Afghanistan has arrived on Sunday. 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s Corona vaccine were sent to Afghanistan from India. The approval of emergency use of this vaccine is still awaited.
Ghulam Dastagir Nazari, who heads the vaccination program at the Ministry of Health, said that the dose would be stored in Kabul until emergency use was approved. It is being told that there is a possibility of getting approval for emergency use within a week.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote in a tweet that the Made in India vaccine reached Afghanistan. We always stand with our friends. India has so far supplied COVID-19 vaccine to 15 countries and is in talks with 25 countries.
Afghanistan thanked India for providing 5,00,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to the war-ravaged nation and described the assistance as a clear sign of “generosity and commitment” towards the strong partnership between the two countries. India sent the vaccine doses to the people of Afghanistan as a gift, officials said.
In a tweet, Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar expressed his profound gratitude to the government and people of India as well as his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar for sending the consignment and helping Afghanistan in checking the spread of the pandemic.
Bangladesh on Sunday launched its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign with the Made in India vaccine by Serum Institute of India.
Bangladesh received seven million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, two million as a gift from India and five million as part of a contract with the Serum Institute of India.
