New Delhi: The Indian Army, which is constantly facing nefarious efforts from China and Pakistan, has got another powerful weapon. During the Aero India show in Bengaluru, India’s first next generation anti-radiation missile Rudram-1 was seen. The specialty of this missile is that it can hit targets including enemy radars at a distance of up to 200 kms by the Indian Air Force’s Su-30MKI fighter jets. The special thing is that this missile has been developed by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The launch speed of this missile is also double the speed of sound (supersonic). This missile will increase the firepower of Indian fighter aircraft in the air and will also increase tactical capability.
This has given the Indian Air Force the ability to go deep inside the enemy’s air defense system and destroy it. It is the first such missile made in India, which can be fired from any height. These missiles can capture any kind of signal and radiation.
Radiation missiles are designed to destroy the enemy’s communication system. They can also be used against enemy radars, jammers, and even the radio used for conversation. These missiles have sensors that detect the source of radiation.
The Rudram missile is currently designed to be used with Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft. It was also successfully tested in October last year but can also be used in future with Mirage 2000, Jaguar, HAL Tejas and HAL Tejas Mark 2.
