‘Azadi’ meaning ‘Freedom’ is the state of being free and not controlled by another person, country, etc. It means liberation from slavery or from the power of another, a claim to the right of equality before law, to argue and obtain a change of law if it fails the test of time and context. Freedom means the right to argue against wrong, even when it has sanction of the majority vote.
The day of 15th August in 1947 has been embossed in the golden history of India. Reminiscence of this pious day, India declares itself to be independent, free, ‘Azad’ in all respects and got freed from the shackles of British imperialism. A struggle of about 200 years, with a hope to live each day like a free bird, hope to win through all the battles, and finally, a hope to visualise the dawn of a rising sun in the nation has led Bharat to learn how to fight back for every situation which comes across to stop her.
Bharat, now, is the biggest democracy in the world, a land of diversity where people of different caste, creeds, religions, cultures, and beliefs live together.
Bharat has developed numerous kinds of art, architecture, painting, music, dance, festivals, and rituals over the years, and this diversity has resulted in an unparalleled culture that the rest of the world admires.
During the pandemic, as a nation, Bharat has shown the entire world its resilience and capability to deal with extreme adversities. Bharat has not only started the world’s largest self-made vaccination drive, but also exported it to many other countries.
We are ‘Azad’ & blessed to have a right to speak and to be heard. A right several brave souls fought for.
We are celebrating the 76th year of Azad Bharat which is a proud moment for all of us. We have come a long way and have an equally long way to go.
Being the citizens of Bharat, we have to rethink how should we work towards the betterment of vulnerable sections of society, how to create better livelihoods opportunities to help them become self-reliant and capable enough to support not only themselves but also our nation. We need to build the institutions that can stand the test of time.
It’s high time to activate ‘Bharat 2.0’, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. So, this Independence Day, let’s pledge to strive for:
Bharat 2.0 | Azadi 2.0 |
