New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, a day after the drug regulator approved the limited emergency use of two vaccines that the world’s largest vaccination campaign to control the corona virus was about to begin in the country. He praised the scientists and technicians for the ‘Made in India’ vaccines and said that the country is proud of them.
PM Modi said, “The world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination program will start in India. For this, the country is proud of the contribution of its scientists and technicians.”
Addressing the scientists at the National Metrology Conclave, Modi said it must be ensured that ‘Made in India’ products not only have global demand but also global acceptance.
He said, ‘The quality of a product is as important as its quantity. Along with taking steps towards achieving the goal of self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat), our standards should also rise.
India’s drugs regulator on Sunday approved Oxford Covid-19 vaccine Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute, and indigenously developed Covaxin of Bharat Biotech for restricted emergency use in the country, paving the way for a massive inoculation drive.
