New Delhi: The issue of Taiwan whenever discussed in India, bounds China to display it’s insecurities and true colours. In an article by China’s Propaganda newspaper Global Times, a direct warning has been published that if India supports Taiwan, the dragon has many ways to harm India. The newspaper quoted the Shanghai Institute for International Studies Research Center for China-South Asia Cooperation’s Secretary General Liu Zongyi as claiming that China could support separatist forces in India’s northeastern states.

The Global Times states that the basis of bilateral agreements between the two countries involves respecting each other’s territorial integrity and collegiality. Treating Taiwan as a separate country is a violation of the values of bilateral relations. In such a situation, India should be alert to the counter-action of China.

Liu told the Global Times that one step might be to consider Sikkim not part of India. The newspaper has clearly written, “If India supports the separatist forces in China, then China will also follow the eye for eye and support the separatist forces in northeastern India.”

The newspaper further wrote that when there are domestic problems in India, the country starts focusing on tensions with China so as to divert people’s attention.
