Tilak Mehta is one of the young entrepreneurs in India who proved that there is no age barrier for invention and entrepreneurship.
In 2018, he co-founded the courier company Papers n Parcels (PNP) with his maternal uncle Ghanshyam Parekh. He was a 13-year-old class 8 student when he began his venture, and everyone was shocked by his success at such a young age. He also receive extensive media coverage and appear on TEDx Talks in March 2019. In the financial year 2020-2021, the turnover of his company is exceeding 100 crores and the revenue is growing rapidly.
This idea of a logistics startup occurred to him when he wanted some books from the other end of the city and couldn’t ask his father, who often came home late and tired, for the needful. After discovering that the courier charges were far greater than that of the book, he was directed towards this idea.
Tilak Mehta’s main focus and intention were to make an easier and smooth life for everyone by solving the small regular problems of society. He solved the regular life problem of delivery with his creative idea of paper n parcels. His main goal was to make delivery service available at a cheaper price and delivery on time to the respective people.
Paper N Parcels employs over 200 workers of its own and 300 dabbawallas. The employees handle up to 1200 deliveries per day. The packages handled by the employees weigh up to 3 kilograms and they charge Rs 40-180 depending on the weight of the parcel.
While sharing his entrepreneurial journey, Tilak said, “I am inspired by Mukesh Ambani. I also enjoy reading about Steve Jobs, who dropped out of school and established such a successful company.”
Tilak wants his startup to grow and earn more. Paper N Parcel aims to make the lives of people associated with Paper N Parcels simpler regardless of them being a customer, Dabbawalla, or a delivery partner.
The client base of Paper N Parcel includes pathology labs, boutiques, and brokerage firms. The startup is open to entering strategic tie-ups with companies like Swiggy. For Tilak, his startup is like Uber and Ola for courier services. For his work, Tilak has also won the Youngest Entrepreneur Award in logistics sector in India by Maritime India.
